Challenge Rules

The Workout

  • 5 minutes. Strict dumbbell shoulder press. Most reps wins.
  • Penalty: Every time you put the weight down = 10 burpees before you can pick them back up. Burpees score nothing, they just eat your clock.
  • Single entry only. You get one attempt, that's your score.

Standardised Weights

  • Male: 2× 8kg dumbbells
  • Female: 2× 4kg dumbbells

Movement Standards

  • Dumbbells start at the shoulders, press to full lockout overhead. No leg drive at all, strict press ONLY.
  • Both dumbbells pressed together (no alternating).
  • Any dip or knee bend = no rep.
  • Must be standing throughout. Seated pressing is not permitted.

What Counts as "Putting the Weight Down"

  • Dumbbells must stay in your hands at shoulder height or above at all times.
  • Resting them on your chest, head, or any other body part below the shoulders = burpee penalty.
  • Resting them on any surface (bench, floor, rack) = penalty.
  • If in doubt: if the dumbbells leave the pressing position at your shoulders, it's a penalty.

Burpee Standard

  • Chest and hips must touch the ground at the bottom.
  • Stand fully upright with hips open at the top.
  • All 10 burpees must be completed before touching the dumbbells again.
  • Any presses performed before finishing all 10 burpees will not count.

Submission & Proof

  • Single unbroken video of the full 5 minutes.
  • Time-lapse is fine to keep file size manageable, make sure a timer is visible on screen throughout.
  • Dumbbell weight shown clearly at the start.
  • Full body in frame (head to feet).
  • Filmed during the challenge window, pre-recorded or old footage will be disqualified.
  • We may request original files or additional angles. Failure to provide may result in disqualification.
